The ramblings and mumblings of a wannabe poker pro

Game Review

I’ve just downloaded another trial of PT3 and updated my database, I’m really keen to invest in PT3, I just don’t have the funds to spare yet. I was sick of trying to improve my game blind though, so wanted to see how my stats looked after I moved back down to 1c/2c.

I’m not sure if I can trust my “trail database”, but I’m sure its accurate enough for my current purposes. There are two changes that are immediately apparently, my current reported win rate for 1c/2c sucks, its around 6, that may be influenced by an absence of a few hands, but not enough to be excusable. The other thing that immediately stands out is that my PFR has dropped significantly, I’m now barley above 50% of my VPIP.

EDIT : Ah, just had one of those ligh bulb moments, just realized why my win rate is so sucky, the spewy day I wrote about a few days ago, dropped 5 buy-in’s in one day, then 2 or 3 the next day to a bit of bad lucky, bound to have a big effect on your bottom line. If I can get my concentration back, I’m sure I’ll have it near doubled soon.

The good news is that I’ve increased my VPIP, which is something I have been working on, though I still have a little room to go, I’m at 14.xx at the moment, and I’ll probably be comfortable around 16, though I want my AF to be at least 10 – 12.

I’ve felt my self slip into a bit of a robotic phase at the moment, where I haven’t been paying much attention, I’m dong now, playing 4 tables, whilst I write this blog entry, but I’ve got some excitment back, just seeing some up to date stats gives me a real boost, now I have something tangable I can work towards and improve on, besides the growth of my bankroll.

I’ll end this post by sharing a few targets.

1. Make more use of the PT Trial database until I purchase the full product.

2. Continue to widen my CO / BUT range and decrease my EP range somewhat.

3. rapidly and dramatically increase my PFR

PS : I have just, and I really mean just, earned my 1k FPP, after almost a year of play, between $1 Sit n Go’s and the 1c/2c cash game grind, look forward to picking up more of them at the higher limits, 1k doesn’t really give me much for my time.
