Again, I’ve bumped into someone on 2+2 who declares a 40ptBB/100 at 1c/2c, I’m assuming ptBB/100 = BB/100. I mean yikes, I still haven’t hit 10 BB/100 in 21k hands.
I’ve thought about this recently and felt I was over it, but it appears not. I hate feeling that my win rate sucks, although clearly it does at the moment. Is the consensus still that 5 – 10 BB/100 is decent?
Anyway, I’m pretty open on here about my game, so I’m hoping some of you can set me straight, what do I need to do to get my BB/100 from the mid 7′s where it seems to average to the 20′s or higher? I’ll post a few stats if it will help, I honestly have no idea. Though clearly the stupid plays and bad calls I’ve made recently don’t help things, though I hope you’ll agree that ain’t my ussual game lol.
Appreciate it xxx

I couldn’t give it a rest, took a break for maybe an hour and then hoped back online for another session. Its strange how even on a tiny sample you can almost visualize the swings your going through. This last 200 – 300 hands for example, I would take down nice pots for a while, then I’ll get trash beating me on the turn for awhile, and so on. I’m feeling a bit better now, so I’m back to enjoying it, makes me think to Blind Tilt’s recent post on variance, there really is no getting away from it… it does keep the game interesting though.
Here’s a few hands :
I was surprised what villain called the turn with, shame I couldn’t get more value out of him.

I’ve taken a very similar line twice recently where I was semi-bluffing the nut flush, so it was a nice change to actually have a big pair this time, and of course have it hold up lol
http://www.pokerhand.org/?2758140
This was an interesting hand as I recently started a discussion on this very situation other at Home Poker Tourney (representing a big hand, then turning a set).
http://www.pokerhand.org/?2758156
All my tables where full of players who showed tenancies to call, raise or even stack off with less then TPTK, so I don’t think It was too bad of a play to put villain all-in on this turn

Something I almost never do, but here I had what I felt was a good price to see the turn, so I called with 2 overs as the short stacker could easily be in here with a flush draw. OOP with a call, I probably should have just folded on the flop.

2nd and bottom pair calling my c-bet and improving on the turn, seemed to become the theme for the night. I made a mistake re-raising here, the player has been rather passive, so the lead on the turn stood out, I just couldn’t stop myself from throwing out a modest raise.

The session didn’t bring around much of an upward climb in either my win rate or my bankroll, but I’m happy with how I played, I got my money in good the vast majority of the time, and I enjoyed myself, so I can’t really ask for more can I.

Been a bit of a bumpy session. Called off my stack with a less then nut flush, a situation I usually avoid, and to rub it in villain flopped a full house. I then push into someone I’m certain is weak with a nut flush draw on the flop, only for him to call with AK, which holds up.
Here’s the hands :
I’m getting sick of posting these really embarrassing hands. On the turn I felt I could be ahead, as I’ve seen the villain stack off with TPWK, post session though, I was a fucking donkey, I’m getting sick of seeing me play like this. I’ve folded nut flushes in better spots then this… this hand makes me feel sick.

Same villain. I felt comfortable I could get a fold here, but I had to check-raise all-in, and If I’m wrong I say good bye to another buy-in. This was close enough to the above hand where it could have looked like tilt which could make a call more likely, so this looks like another badly timed play from me.

This hand is the last time, I’m semi-bluffing a flush draw in such a manner, its simply not working for me.
I had no doubt I was ahead here, but I felt a push was too much just to isolate the pre-flop raiser, if I had AKs I might have thought otherwise though, do you prefer a push pre-flop here? On the flop, I’m faced with a similar spot as before, villain leads out but I just know he’s weak, and I’ve got flush outs if I’m wrong, so I push looking to take the pot down. Obviously I have zero fold equity in this spot at 5NL, if he called with 99, TT, JJ, QQ, KK, AA fine but fucking AK!

Variance was kind though, giving me back to back sets on the flop, here’s one of them.

It’s unlikely I’ll be sitting in any more games today, though you never know. Its been a crap day really, started off almost a buy-in up, giving me some hope of a return to form, but that plus change has just been lost with the above. I should probably take tomorrow off to recompose myself, hopefully with a day off I’ll more focused and finally stop playing so pathetic.

Just got off another short 4-tabling session and I left feeling much better with how I played here then in the previous sessions. Hopefully a couple more sessions like this and I will have my win rate back to the pre-crash level lol.
Here’s a few of the more interesting hands :
A3s in a pot against AJ and AK, and I actually folded the best hand. With my over aggressive play lately I opted not to make a play for the pot, but decided to see the turn and folded to the 2nd barrel.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?2756109
This was my final hand of the session. I was sure I was behind the re-raiser here, but I was way ahead of the calling station in between, and felt I had enough equity to take a flop. I elect to lead out with TPTK to protect my hand. Was this correct when I’m likely still behind the short stack, but way ahead of the calling station in front of me, would it have been better to check, and call if the calling station calls? With aces up on the turn, I put the calling station all-in.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?2756118
I was unsure about c-betting this flop, as I’ll probably check if I hit a full house or a king. The river bet was very inviting, but I decided to fold as I couldn’t put villain on a hand that check / calls this flop, checks behind on the turn, then makes a value bet that I was ahead of.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?2756161
A raise such as this is so often a draw, that I came over the top, and decided to push the turn which I felt didn’t change anything. I’m not sure on the numbers here, at a guess I was 50/50 on the flop. I’ll run Poker Stove to check.
Close, I was a 54% favorite on the flop, and 77% on the turn.

Same story, couldn’t stop thinking about poker, so I decided to sit in another session before bed. Things didn’t go my way at first, and I found myself a buy-in short, but I got lucky and doubled through taking home my biggest (although still modest) pot yet.
Here’s the key hands :
I looked for a line check for this hand on HPT, here’s the hand and line discussion :

HPT line check thread
Here, I remember thinking in game “why did he call the river”, after going through the hand, I can see why, looks like I was the lucky one, he did however let me get there.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?2754183
This pot is the biggest pot I’ve ever won, just a shame most of the profit was taken up by the lost buy-in earlier in the session.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?2754193
Against the above villain, I think smooth calling this turn was a mistake and may have allowed him to bluff me off the pot even if the ace didn’t fall on the river. Having just come out ahead after a rough day of poker, I likely got scared and it probably cost me, though maybe not…
http://www.pokerhand.org/?2754202
I’ve just realized post session, that the same villain took a similar line earlier on me, then I only had AQ high, this time I hung around and was glad I did.
