Session Debrief
Just finished the day’s sessions, 12 games in total, and its been a pretty abysmal day. My highest finish was a single 2nd place cash.
I take notes on every single game I’m involved in, so I know I’ve had a real bunch of suck outs and coolers, etc, both yesterday and today, but what frustrates me the most is that I also know without any doubt I’ve played some appalling poker. Both yesterday and today I’ve called all-in’s, even on the bubble with hands I normally wouldn’t even play.
I have no idea why I’ve made such stupid calls, but I know I can get my win and cash rate back to what it was only a couple of days ago. The game plan is simple, concentration. Yesterday and today I’ve missed opportunities to pick up pots or to make timely steels that was successful only days ago, leaving me at the mercy of picking up cards. If the cards don’t come, I’m often left restricted to all-in raises or all-in calls in the later rounds, which isn’t for me.
So my strategy if I can call it that, is to simply focus on the action and the players far more then I have today and to try and pick up pots where I can if the cards don’t come early on, so that I have some maneouvering room later on. I also need to get my instincts back on track, so I can dodge and weave out of trouble before I’m dazzled by the headlights and end up all-in drawing dead.
The small amount of good news is that I now only need 12 more points to earn my bonus, which I’ll hopefully clear tomorrow.
