I’m wanting to sweat some people between 2nl and 10nl, to prepare for offering some coaching for these stakes so if you play these stakes, on any site please get in touch so we can set something up. Just to clarify, I’m not looking for paying students at this time, I just want to sweat people on these levels to get used to the play and get some practice offer advise for these games.
Thanks.

1. Stop looking at my cashier, session results and graphs.
2. Evaulte / post more hands.
3. Do more focussed sweats, i.e concentrating on specific areas rather then just general sweats

My operating system went a bit crazy on me a few day’s back, so I made the upgrade to Windows 7. I have Windows 7 on my laptop so I thought I’d be used to it, but hell no, it really threw me, and I’ve been mega tilted for the past few day’s, especially when HEM was driving me crazy. I’m really not used to the desktop layout and how the windows look and feel and I can’t wait to either theme it like XP or get used to it, so it doesn’t bug me so much. Worse still is that there appears to be a problem with my graphics drivers as now I can’t do basic stuff like setup a screen save, despite having a pretty good card that worked perfectly on XP.
So I haven’t done much poker for the last few day’s, I had a session with my team moshman coach earlier, which went okay and we’ve highlighted a few areas that I’m going to work on over this next week. I’m still pretty annoyed about my poor performance this month, mostly I’m just getting coolered and running into the top end of ranges, though I’m excited about improving my play and negating some varriance with an improved win rate.

I came across this thread on two plus two recently, about dealing with run bad. The message was essentially “man it up son!”, and I’ve taken it to heart. Today hit me hard, I was on the verge of a breakdown at one point, but with a few words of support from fellow two plus tower’s I managed to tough it out and got in another session after a bit of a break. I’m really trying, despite lapses now and then to do just that, and get beyond the whining and emotion that serves no constructive purpose.
I was really pleased with how I managed to get over yet another rough start to the day today, hopefully I can keep this up. It does feel great to take the high road and just get on with the next hand. I’ve also just finished Tommy Angelo’s Eightfold Path to Poker Enlightenment series on Deuces Cracked as well, which finishes with a very similar theme. I finished this episode mid session I believe, so I’ll give it another watch tomorrow and then work back through the entire series. Hopefully by the time I’m knee deep into the 2nd watch, I’ll eventually get around to start reading his book, Elements of Poker.

I saw a video clip of a poker related movie recently called All In, and I was surprised that I hadn’t heard of it before, a quick look on the IMDB database showed it to show some potential in my mind so I ordered a copy from amazon. Well it arrived today, and I’ve just finished watching it with one of my house mates. I enjoyed it, definitely a good easy watch film, though the poker scenes where mostly brief and not filled with all that much poker content either it was kinda a cross between Lucky You and 21 in my mind, but descent.
The DVD lists Juan Juanda and Erik Seidel as making an appearance, but its so brief in all counts that its barley worth mentioning, worth checking out, but don’t expect it to be in anyway heavy on poker content, there are some recognizable faces in the cast though.

As I mentioned in my previous post I need to un-fix my shittyness and get into a routine, this seems to be something I always need to do but never achieve. Anyway, I had a bit of light bulb kinda thing go off earlier, when I realized that any sort of fixed schedule probably isn’t going to work for me, not atm anyway, as I’m pretty random and unpredictable, never knowing when I’m awake, or even at home some day’s, but what I think can work is having a commitment to put in 4 hours of poker related work each day for say 5 days a week. whether that be playing, sweating, reading, watching video’s or a combination, at least then I know I’m putting in a reasonable amount of time and should hopefully start to see a return for that investment.
6+ hours would be more beneficial obviously, but as sucky as I’ve been I think I need to start slower, and 4 hours seems a good point to begin.

I may as well put up a few goals for the month, there going to be pretty basic though, and not really tick box type achievements either.
1. Work towards establishing a routine, and balance with poker and life.
2. Become comfortable with Full Tilt Poker software at least on the desktop if not the laptop as well.
3. Maintain Gold+ VIP on stars or and equivalent level on FTP.
4. Be happy if I achieve a total of 50k hands this month.
5. 2+ weeks of paid sessions with Rapid Evolution.
6. Improve my mental state for poker and life.
7. HAVE SOME FUCKING FUN!

The title… couldn’t think of anything relay meaningful and it does sound kinda catchy so there ya go
I’m gong to skip my usual apologize for being lazy and not posting, and just stick all my effort into actually posting some content, that’ll be a change lol.
So whats been happening… Well I’ve been struggling, both with life and poker, and one kinda feeds into the other, life as been depressing and for the most part uneventful, because poker as been pretty rough for pretty much this entire year so far, and that leads to more motivational loss, more frustration which feeds into fewer and fewer sessions that I’ve been proud of, its been a bit of a self defeating spiral thing, that I’m trying to break out of.
There has been some positives though, I’ve distracted myself with a “new” computer game called War Hammer online, I’m pretty much other that now, though it was nice to have a distraction available at the time, I’ve also now got rake back on my old Full Tilt Poker account, which makes a full time site change an actual appealing option now. Best of all though is that I had my first real solo trip into Europe a few weeks back, where I took my laptop on the road to stay with my author friend Zoe Whitten and her husband for a few days in Milan
It was great, and felt like a real achievement unlock (bad war online reference lol). After I’ve got my feet wet with a trip to Milan I’m now more keen then ever to take my laptop over to Berlin and setup a grind house for a month or two, though with financial stuff being as dull as it is, I’m not able to commit to any plans for that atm.
I’ll round up this post with a quick summary of poker related stuff, and a pledge to keep playing and posting.
Well generally after a very promising early start, my entire 50nl experience, certainly for the last 6 months has been very poor, and very frustrating, the only positive results wise is that I’ve paid back a lot of any run hot I may have had in previous stakes by running adequately poor over this year, the worst thing is though even with ev set aside I’m still way bellow where I would expect my results to be, and that has been very depressing. The good news is that I have learned a lot, there has been times where I was learning how to save or win more money in multiple situations almost every session and that was very uplifting, but after 6 months or so have a very poor performance record, I’ve lost a lot of confidence and that as negated a lot of the bonuses that some skill improvements would otherwise have made.
Looking forward, I’m about to start an “intense” period of coaching with Rapid Evolution in a little under week, and hopefully prior to that I will be able to put myself in a better frame of mind, to actually see some solid returns on our time together. I’ve also just about got Full Tilt setup the way I like, including a new hud layout and a new theme and deck modification, and have started to experiment with rush, albeit at only 5nl until I get some workable funds on FTP for higher stakes.
Well I’ve got to skip off and get some chores done, before my house mates go mental, so I’ll end this here, I think I covered the main points and themes that I wanted to mention, anything short will be brought up in future posts hopefully.
Run hot and take care xxx

My beloved computer was in need for some upgrades after it failed to wake up on Thursday, so today, pretty much all of today in fact I was busy cautiously trying to test and setup the new components. I now have a Phenom II CPU and 6GB of Tri-Channel memory (shame my board is dual-channel lol). Its been a long day, so I’m not expecting to get any play in tonight, though I am aware I am way behind the pace I would like and hope to catch up tomorrow.
i don’t think I played on the 1st, though I did have a good day on the 2nd, play mostly 100nl on stars. Since then I’ve made a deposit on ipoker and have been trying to get used to it, to allow me to pick up a quick $600 deposit bonus. Its so different to stars, and its driving me a little nuts tbh, I just hope I can adjust to bother the site and the players asap. It feels like the optimal way to play this site is just to play a ton of tables in a very ABC style, and then get the hell out as soon as you complete whatever bonus you have forced yourself to commit to.
I haven’t updated my previous post about January yet, but as you can see from the my graph, things didn’t go all that well, I do feel good about the month though, especially ensuring I made plat and doing well at 100nl in the last 3 days of the month, only the middle of the month really sucked and over all it was an enjoyable month. I’ve got to get saving for a new house atm, so I’m going to put off buying that chair I showed a while back, though I will be rewarding myself with that keyboard if I’m finish pleased with how I played over the month.
I’m also going to introduce some sort of graph or chat to monitor my progress towards my annual $ won target, though I haven’t started on that yet.
May the grind be with you
