The ramblings and mumblings of a wannabe poker pro

Progress

Got a delayed update. Myself and a friend, decided to use a few of my FPP’s in a few satellites. I scored with my first one, for entry into Sunday’s Two Hundred Grand Guaranteed and my friend scored an entry into the following weeks 1 Million Guaranteed Turbo event. We agreed to chop any profit from each, so hopefully we’ll both have a nice reward for our efforts.

I’ve also decided to start my cash run from scratch. I’ve drawn a line under my previous efforts, (although all HH’s are still recorded), and I’ve purchased PT3. I’m still not using a HUD, but I am more open to the idea and hope to actually progress somewhere soon.

  1. Hey Lucky. Pokertracker 3 comes with the HUD inbuilt and included. You must use it imho. Good luck. September has been a struggle for me so far. Playing well I think, just bad luck.
    Cheers

  2. I’m only playing a max of 2 tables at the moment, so it isn’t required as much as it would be if I was still 4+ tabling.

A large part of my reluctance in not using one stems from not wanting to have to train myself in its use, when that time could be spent improving my play. I’m planning to swim around at 2nl for awhile again, until i can get some semblance of a “game” bolted down. Once I’m happy with my general approach, I may set it up, and have a little experimentation, at least then it will be ready should I start adding more tables.

Having experience with a HUD and stats will no doubt help me in understanding more hand posts on 2+2 as well, as most revolve around the interpretation of villains stats.

  3. Are you keeping notes and stuff on the players?

Using PT can’t hurt but you probably can handle keeping track of the players just by watching what they do and how they bet.

Sorry about your 5 buy-in loss the other day. Don’t get discouraged and I think you’ll do fine.

    Don’t give up!

  4. I have always taken notes on my opponents, but I’ve only just really started to exploit villain tendencies, or at least I’m trying to do it much more then I have had previously.

I wanted PT to track my own progress and to allow me to review sessions easily. Sifting through hundreds of hand history text files is a nightmare.

I am now also playing a maximum of 2 tables, which makes it much easier to monitor my opponents.
