Aha Moments in Poker

After failing to be awake enough for another session (always fun to fire up one more session only to loose all of your day’s profits), I pretty randomly created a thread on the HPT forums about some poker aha moments of mine, click the link bellow to check out the thread, I’ve copied my aha moments here:

Poker Aha Moments

1. flatting KK is way way way way way way way way better then 3b’ing if facing a 4b will make your sphincter twitch.

2. choosing to play OOP is like choosing to drive a car with no breaks because its in your favorite color

3. fish and regs alike instinctively try and beat 1 pair way more then they try to get an over pair or TP to fold

4. don’t assume a reg is a thinking player, treat him as a tight fish until he proves u wrong

5. avoiding tilt, burnout, stress and having a healthy lifestyle will earn u more at the tables then any single improvement in strategy (beyond the very very basics) ever will

  1. I like the list.

I also would like to add that sometimes a player just can’t fold their middle pair. So bluffing these types are just futile. Sometimes I’m stubborn and refuse to give up a bluff because I think that the villain is a weak player and can/will fold middle pair. I usually wind up paying for that mistake.

  2. Thanks.

Yeah I agree, some players will just never fold any pair, and the sooner u accept it the better. Certainly in fr these players often have terrible bet sizing or check it down a lot too, so u get very cheap showdowns which is worth more then bluffing them given they so rarely fold.

  3. Well, I’m pleased that you are awaken with a pretty useful references for your aha Poker moments. In deed betting is not an easy job while you are not sure of the game results. Of course if we are confident in our Players, we’ll then be looking at opponent’s strategies. Anyhow, I do appreciate your information and good luck with your play.
