A Dissapointing Start to October
Coming from a great end to September, I am in the midst of a very disappointing start to October. My first two day’s so me drop ~$175 at 50nl fr, and since then I’ve been pretty much bed ridden with illness so I haven’t been able to play to get myself unstuck. After only making Gold Star VIP for this month I had hoped to regain Platinum this month, but it looks like I’ll have to settle for Gold again, I just hope I can achieve that.
This illness has come with really bad timing, as I had planned to go the casino with some of my family to play blackjack last Saturday, its been ages since I’ve been so I was really hoping to get lucky and win a few quid, sadly that plan was scuppered. Hopefully I’ll be well enough to go soon, the casino is in my local town so I don’t have far to travel to it.
Looking ahead I am going to put steps in place to improve my game and earn a solid win rate for myself, I haven’t been happy with my performance for the last two months, so its about time I did something about it. I’m going to start off by playing 10k hands of 50nl fr, and I will limit myself to 4 tables. The aim of this phase is to settle into the level and into the adjustments I have made in my game and make sure my timing is okay, achieving a consistent performance and at least a BE red line will be my focus. I will also be hiding my previous hands in my database so they don’t affect my play or new routine.
Once that’s done, I will be re-setting up my HUD, and the pop up’s in HEM and will then play another 10k hands, again only 4 tabling, but this time using the HUD and HEM. I will evaluate my results over those 20k and then add an extra table and then playing another 5k hands or so and then re-evaluate again, and then add another table and re-evaluate again until I’m up to 8 tabling. If I can get back to 8 tabling I will then play a much larger sample to make sure my game doesn’t slip again, maybe 20-50k hands, by that time I will hopefully be ready to start taking shots at 100nl and I will do so in a similar pattern.
I’ve also got a few rewards lined up for the end of the month. I’ve been committed to poker for approximately 2 years now and its only recently that I have given me self a few treats, such as a recent mobile phone upgrade. So at the end of the month if I can commit to these 20k hands of 4 tabling and see the results I am looking for (in a game improvement rather then a monetary sense) I will be treating myself to a new 28″ monitor. I’ve been debating between buying one of these, saving for a 30″ monitor or even buying a 32″ TV for sometime, but my mind has recently been made up. I will of course also be going to my local casino to hit up the blackjack tables, hopefully it will help me pay for the 28″ monitor lol.
